Default V-LED Tailight Question

I purchased two sets of V3 LEDs from VLED to be used in the taillights. I have a couple if issues. I cannot get them to work is my first issue and secondarily, the heat sinks are fairly large and it appears that they will not fit into the space allowed in order to reseat the taillight assembly back into the truck.

Perhaps one of you have already made this purchase and worked through these issues. I have not contact VLED just yet hoping that you might have the answers.

Thanks

Roger that - 4 V3's, 2 issues.

IF this is for a 2009+, apparently the lower pair of tail lamps have clearance issues with the V3's (seen this posted previously). The top pair should fit fine.

EDIT: found it - https://www.f150forum.com/f38/red-wh...0/#post3269720

As fer them both not working - that's odd - as it's plug & pray. I suppose you can try reversing the bulb connector. I've always had good luck with them. Hard to believe you received 2 defective units.

good luck

Could be possible though. I had 4 defective LEDs in a row before. Not that they didn't light, but just had issues with them lighting things they should have. Its hit and miss...

It is definitely a clearance issue with the lower light led clearance. I am not certain the there is anything that can be done with this issue even if I can get them to work. Was looking forward to them, but might have to look into alternatives.

I'm going to state the obvious here....but it's really frustrating there is no "good" option for LED tails of any form for us.

While generally I would agree with your statement regarding the plug and play taillights for sale I did have mine retrofitted much like Bil does with headlights. They were expensive but they work without issues. I wanted to replace the OEM bulbs still in the reto taillights which is the reason I went the VLED route.

Here you go. Not thrilled with the oem bulbs in the middle of the rings in the taillights, but I am certain I will find an acceptable LED to go there. Wish the VLED's had worked. Not the best pics but you get the idea. The 5 led strips are pretty bright. Not the best pics but you get the idea. I included a couple of the existing retrofitted headlights that the taillights match up to. Headlights would be a bit brighter at night.
