Default Off road light help???

I recently purchased a set of off brand lights from orielly's and the guy told me the light are pretty bright. I dont know if this is true but i think it might be how i wired them because i had to splice in extra wire to reach the switch in the cab. Could somebody please give me some advice on this?

splicing in extra wire shouldnt affect the light output, if you have a good power supply; like the battery and a good ground; like the frame, then they should work fine

well i grounded both of the lights to the radiator support and the toggle switch to the floor of my cab, i made sure it was bare metal too. Could it maybe have something to do with the power wire having too small of a fuse for the lights?

i honestly dont know i used what ever one came with the kit. so im guessing that its too small off a fuse. or could it be that i splice in wires that were bigger than the ones in the kit, because the local hardware store didnt have the same size?

wire size shouldnt matter unless you went smaller, if the fuse came with the lights then its right, and most fuse holders that come with a fuse are plenty big for a couple lights. are the lights not burning? barley burning? or do you just think there not bright enough?

If it's to small a fuse it would blow.

The lights are very dim, i cant even see any noticable differance when they are on or off at night with my low beams on.

thats what i was thinkin too, cause it would be pullin more power then the fuse is rated for and the fuse would do its job and blow

Well if they are a weak off-brand and you have them pointed in the same place as your low beams you probably won't notice them. I suggest a KC HiLite SlimLite kit. The long-range off road lights are super bright and are good for spotting long range deer.
