All things HID here!!!
I just recently discovered this HID thread and absolutely *LOVE* all the great info.. its already helped me avoid some potentially ugly mistakes I was about to make...
I have a 2011 EB FX4 and one of my peeves is the horrible light output when highway driving at nite, which I do a lot... I have pretty much decided to get an HID upgrade kit with 6000K Bi-Xenon HI-LO bulbs in my existing headlight housings.
Two things I`m still unsure of, and can`t find any info in the entire forum on, are:
1- What difference, if any, is there between AC and DC output ballasts,
and
2- will I need any mods, relays, or wiring harnesses, etc to ensure no problems with "Light-out" or other warning messages
Also, is there any advantage/etc to using Compact vs regular ballast size..??
Thanks in advance for any advice...

I would think you'd want a DC ballast, seeing as the truck runs off the battery which don't do AC as far as my understanding goes
Slim VS Standard, I used normal ones in mine, I don't think you gain anything using slims on trucks with so much space to work with. However, make sure you get digital ballasts as opposed to analog.
And for flickering, I can't tell you, my truck has no issues with just a regular dual beam kit

Looking to get some HID's on my 2011 XLT EB.
So i want to replace the headlights and fog lights. I want to know about who has done it on a truck like mine, and their pro's and cons about the install, output and so on.
Also, are the main bulbs H13, and the fogs H10 on these trucks?
Other than making sure it's a digital ballast, what else do i need, or need to know?
I used to have them on our van, but like many others had flickering problems. So i took them out after about a year of having them on there. Flickering was getting worse and worse. So i don't want to deal with that again.

Fixed the radio problem. Purchased 2 ferrite date line filters from radio shack. $5 each. Put them on the power lead coming out of the HID ballasts and wrapped them in electrical tape to make sure they stay put. No more static.
Well, went for a ride and its not perfect, but a lot better. Think I may pull them out and just go with silverstar ultras. The HID's just aren't that great without projectors. I liked my regular silverstars that I had in my ranger better than my HID's. Bummed that I wasted $200.
Did this eliminate all the static or just some of it? I get the same thing on my HID system even with the digital ballasts.
