There is a guy on the other forum with the same truck as me(2014 screw, LB 4x4) but in a 302A XLT and its 300 lbs lighter than mine(502A lariat)

I believe that going too 4x4 and the extra options from the 502A make a big difference.

2014 Lariat 501a Screw SB RWD, with topper, me and full tank, 26 gallons. 5980 pounds
2016 Lariat 502a Screw SB 4WD, with topper, me and full tank, 36 gallons. 6000 pounds

So much for the aluminum trucks being 700 pounds lighter. There really should be too much difference in weight between a 501 and 502 except the running boards, and even then only a few pounds. Even with the 4WD and moonroof and 36 gallon tank I didn't expect it to actually weigh more, maybe close, but certainly not more. When I get the Plat, I will get that one weighed as well and see how it compares between the 14 and 16, and that one I do expect it to weigh less than the 14 did, no moonroof or 4WD. Should be a fun truck like my 14 was. 6 more weeks (I Hope)!

yeah, that 4wd and the 502A equipment is dragging you down. and an extra 60# of fuel. Could also be a difference in tire/wheel weight.

I've read of a few trucks with nearly identical options weighed and seen a max of about 600# difference, Aluminum bodied being lighter.

There was some kind of lie going on that I remember reading when they stated the 700 lb difference. It was like they compared a 2014 5.0 SuperCrew longbox to a 2015 2.7 Extended Cab SWB or something along those lines. There weren't the same config. Don't remember exactly what it was but it was pretty dumb.

EDIT: Yeah here it is :https://jalopnik.com/the-732-lbs-lighter-2015-ford-f-150-v6-was-weighed-agai-1610205046
They compared a 2014 5.0 to a 2015 2.7. Pretty shady if you ask me.

Its still 707 lbs if you compare the 5.0 to 5.0. They just claimed it was 732 lbs 5.0 vs 2.7.

For sure. I have looked at 2015+ Lariat's basically identical to my 2014 and despite the 650lbs lower GVWR(7700 vs 7050) they had around the same payload. Usually the 2015's had 50 or so more lbs. These were max tow, supercrew, longbed 4x4's with 502A and 20" wheels.

I can tell you that a 2018 Plat 701a 3.5 with rattle roof and max tow package, which is nearly identical to the 502a I have with 36 gallon tank and tow package and PWB is within 3 pounds of each other, the Plat being 1580 while mine is 1583. That 3 pound difference could be the massaging seats. Will be very interesting to see what the payload and weight of the one I ordered will be.
