Truck Bouncing When Pulling Trailer

KYB shocks ride pretty good too. It is possible to have too stiff a shock which I think the Bilstiens are. I still am wondering why the rears fail the bounce test after less than 30K miles. With the 5100's in the rear I can feel every bump and vibration and rebound, but the KYB smooth it all out.

I want a shock with light compression damping and heavy rebound damping. This kind of shock allows the suspension to do it's job on bumps (absorb them) and immediately settles the motion as the suspension rebounds to normal height. Unless I find something with separate adjustable compression and rebound damping, I'll stick with the stock HDPP shocks because they are good. Not perfect, not adjustable, but good.

If the stock HDPP shocks are stiffer then the ranco 9000xl's on 9 then i guess im glad i didn't go HDPP, its uncomfortably stiff and causes the rear end to chatter unloaded. The 9000xl's made a world of difference with my camper, took care of the porpoising on our crap roads.

I have no objective information about the stiffness of any of these shocks. Just what I gathered from the comments of others on here. I'm glad the 9000xls work for you and if my stock shocks noticeably wear out it would make sense to give them a try.

I'm liking the KYB shocks better than the Bilstiens. Can tell the difference between front and rear. Have the 5100 up front with the KYB in the rear and the rear is smoother now, more stock like without the side hopping. Haven't towed yet with them. but have a feeling they will be just fine.
