Default Trailer brake controller output gauge on 2019

I had a trailer brake controller installed on my 2019 XLT. The truck was pre-wired for the controller with the 7 pin/4 pin in the rear of the truck. The dealer had some issues programming the controller. My question is why don’t I see an output gauge anywhere on the dash? I can adjust the gain, but I don’t see that the truck is applying the brakes when I hit the truck brakes. My 2013 showed an output gauge in the interface on the dash. I know the brakes are working when I manually squeeze the controller, but I’m not sure they are working when I hit the truck brakes. Is there something else that needs to be done?

You have to go into the trailer menu to see how much brake is being applied to the trailer.

You have to select the trailer you are going to tow every time you hook up. You do have to "set up that trailer or add it" first into the truck. Once you have set the trailer up and select it to tow, the gain setting will show up for that particular trailer.

The trailer is set up. I can adjust gain, but I don’t have the gauge that shows how much pressure is being applied to the trailer brakes each time I hit the truck brakes.

In my 2015, I have to be in the trailer setup menu to see brake gain while driving. It does not display when in the speed/tire pressure/oil life area.

This is what I’m looking for when towing. This is an older truck so it will likely look a bit different.

My '18 has that "page" under the towing option in the main menu. I doubt Ford would drop that page out of the menu.

That’s my thinking, but I’m wondering if they have to add it when they program the truck for the controller. Since they had issues programming the controller, I’m concerned they didn’t add it in the process.

I just checked the Forscan thread and think I found your answer. The gain setting is a separate item to enable.

Here's a link to Livnitup's spreadsheet that shows the options with Forscan... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=815852466

Note that there are two things that need to be changed to enable the trailer brake controller and one is specifically for the gain.

If you have FORScan then you can pm me your VIN and I will give you the correct values to use for your truck. There are two settings that should've been programmed to the cluster; one for the trailer brake controller and the other for the gain. Without even having a trailer hooked up you should be able to press the +/- button on the trailer brake controller and see a display popup on the cluster so if that's not happening then it needs to be programmed.
