I hate to "discuss" with a fellow Albertan...but by looking at that picture your trailer's second axle appears to become ineffective because of all the weight on the first one.
Secondly, have you done an actual weight measurement of the tongue on your truck? I think you have more than you really think you have, unless you have a leveling kit on your truck. It would be really interesting to get the weights on all your axles to see why it handles so well for you. One thing you have going for you is your truck to trailer weight ratio. Remember, this is just my opinion as I'm just looking at it...you're driving it.

They take equal load because the springs are attached to an equalizer pivot like so:
So the load is evenly distributed even if the trailer is at an angle. The circled part pivots side-to-side. Also makes bumps much smoother.
I don't have a levelling kit, but I measured fender heights with and without trailer. With trailer, the front doesn't move and the rear goes down one inch.
Here's with and without trailer for comparison (yes the hitch still needs to be higher which makes it look worse)
I don't know if you can tell in the smaller pics, but without trailer, there's 1 inch between the top of the tire and the gap between the frame and body in the wheel well. With the trailer it's lined up with that gap.
Haven't had a chance to take it to the scales yet, but I will one day. Been a busy summer, and I've got it parked for winter now.

Oh yea...I can see the settle down of the truck with the trailer...which is a good thing! Right? You do have some weight on the tongue.....if you're close to 10%....it's good. Once longer trailers are involved I think it become more important...tongue weight.

Yeah we quit early this summer. The last couple of times we went out we had to run the furnace for a bit before going to bed (the wife "needed" it). I wanted to winterize it and remove the solar from the roof before it started going below freezing at night. Now's the time for some winter sports to start!

I miss tobogganing and snow machines! But that's about it. Well....when the crops get taken off....awesome smell in the air!
