Ranger DOES have a 750 lbs Weight Carrying tongue weight

Those requirements in that picture are not used in the final release of j2807. Different FALR tests are not part of it now. Tests for understeer gradient are executed with the vehicle loaded to GCWR, GVWR, and GRAWR simultaneously. A lower RAWR vehicle may have the advantage in this test.

However...
An 5000 lbs curb weight supercrew F150 towing an undistributed 7500 lbs would be at 12500 GCW, with perhaps 22% (=2765/12500) of that being FAW.
An 4250 lbs curb supercrew 2019 Ranger towing an undistributed 7500 lbs would be at 11750 GCW, with perhaps 19% (=2255/11750) of that being FAW.
So expressed as a fraction, the F150 has more FAW compared to its GCW than the Ranger. My personal opinion and conclusion is further strengthened. I expect that the 2015-2019 Ford F150s should produce steering characteristics better than the 2019 Ranger with an undistributed 7500 lbs trailer.
Acdii, your remarks?

I'm just throwing dung until it sticks. There must be some logic behind the two different weights. The one factor standing out though, the Ranger has only one rating, weight carrying, with no weight distributing. It also has roughly half the maximum payload of the F150. As pointed out above, the final revision of J2807 bases it on GCWR, GVWR and GRAWR for the tests. I do know that putting 650 pounds on the ball without a WDH makes the front light enough that steering is compromised on the F150. It gets light enough to lock both front wheels if the brakes are pushed hard enough.
So the question is, does 750 pounds on the ball of the Ranger do the same thing, or is front steering heavy enough for proper handling? Did Ford do something similar that GM does with their 1/2 ton trucks to allow for 750 TW with the rear suspension?

With two horses, I never run out, so just keep on throwing it! LOL
