Post Your Payload

Yeah that doesn't really make sense. My '19 Lariat Mid, nothing heavy (no FX4, no moonroof, no factory liner, etc) was slightly less than that. I don't see how a 14th gen with platinum high stuff and a moonroof including the larger 36 tank (I also had) could increase payload. I thought overall the 14th went down a smidge in payload? I know his is a 4x2 so you lose some capability there to get a few more lbs, but, yours was a 4x2 also yes?
Not a chance. It's very easy to reality check that sticker, and safety/govt/regulations...it doesn't just get made up.
All it is, is GVWR - factory stock vehicle weight.
That's still a number I don't fully understand though...seems a hundred over. What is the GVWR? Typical 7,000?
Must be that 4WD adds more weight than you'd think

Thats the question, what is the GVWR of that truck? Sometimes what Ford does just doesn't make any sense. A Max Tow truck gets an HD frame, same as that specced for the HDPP. The 4x2 is reduced 300 pounds GVWR over the 7050 GVWR of the 4x4. Why not make the 4x2 also 7050 since it is practically identical tire to roof, especially since Max tow gets the 9.75 rear axle which is identical to the HDPP one except for the actual axle shafts. Maybe Ford changed how they do the GVWR now.
Inquiring minds want to know.

Not too bad for an Expedition FX4 with max towing. Ditched the P rated Michelins and went with some E rated BFG KO2's. This helps with the independent rear suspension to avoid sidesway.

Yep. I worked very hard to get max payload as I was going to have around 1000# on the receiver. Turns out it is 825# with the 200# ProPride WDH added. I've had 4x4 on every truck I've owned since 2000 and have never had a need (2003 King Ranch, 2009 King Ranch, 2017 Ram 3500 dually). Just a complete waste of $$ and pounds.

I had a 1998 Expedition Eddie Bauer. I don’t discuss it here unless pertinent to the question.

When I needed a truck at the end of last year hardly any were available. Wife saw the FX4 Expedition on the lot and we bought it. Has the max tow with 3.73 gearing...heavy capacity radiator and a pretty good payload and axle capacities. We have a 30' Keystone Cougar 25RDS that grosses out at 8800 lbs. Loaded this camper is more of a 3/4 ton towable then the 1/2 ton its marketed at. I've had quite a few F150..F250 and even a F350 dually over the years and this Expedition surpasses what I thought it could do. I think an F250 with a 7.3 gas engine would be ideal for this trailer but did not want to wait a year to order one. I also have a 14' single axle utility trailer if I need to haul anything with some length. Been a member on here since 2008 and like to pop in every now and then to see what's going on and maybe get some towing pointers.

I've done towing runs, pure interstate except for small number of miles of local roads solo, with 6k worth of trailer behind me.
Honestly, that's a very comfortable load for a 21/V8/3.31. It would be interesting to try a 7k and 8k trailer load, to see how comfortable I and the truck are. These runs are always done solo with perhaps 200lbs of personal gear and tools.

Was amazed at some of the GVWR on Lightnings 8550lbs. No clue on payload as doors were locked. Insane GVWR window sticker
