Wow. GVWR of just 6426lbs.

You'll always see GVWR over 7000lbs on V8s and 3.5s. Part of that being the bigger heavier drivetrain, chassis, ?axles?

My GVWR is 6900 with a N/A 3.7 engine with 4x4. It is a stripped down XL Supercab. No power windows, locks etc.

Your front and rear GAWR ratings are really low which plays into the low GVWR.

How does it not play into tow rating and payload? I mean most 2.7 stx models have about the same tow rating but different GVWR Mine also has the extended range fuel tank

Payload is a vertical weight limit, towing is a horizontal weight limit. Two separate forces, not all trucks equally equipped the same way to handle each challenge. However trucks are so powerful these days that most tow limits exceed the trucks capability in some other way than towing up steep grades, usually stability or stopping power.

They increase the front gawr and adjust the gvwr on the 4x4. Apparently they design the front end to hold the extra weight.

Seems like no adjustment is needed in the rear. Your truck should have the same hauling capability as his.

That's my point as there is about 300 lbs in transfer case and axles and shaft meaning extra crossmembers to attach the transfer case both HD frames I would doubt that there would only be a 20 lb difference in payload between the 2 trucks something seems weird

Yeah they adjust the gvwr and front gawr.

The front end parts are different.
