Payload as Limiter
Not really, granted when I do I don’t take a trailer. Because I’m camping.
If you misunderstood my comment then I am sure that I could have worded it better and been more specific.
I will go back and edit it since you’re the second person to misunderstand.
I should have read more like this....If you’re pulling a trailer then Who is going to load up the bed when they can load the trailer? The only thing in the truck should be the passengers and snacks for the road.

Some things you shouldn't put in a trailer, like fire wood, fire pits, generators, fuel containers. Yes, some people put cargo trays on the back of their camper, but not all campers are stable with weight back there, and not all have rear bumper or frame access permits the weight you need.
I put all our backpacking gear and a separate cooler in the bed to keep it separate from glamping gear, can be 200lb easily if we are going to kayak or canoe for three or more days in back country. Firewood is another 100-200lb, dependent upon how much glamping we will be doing. Don't have a generator currently, but my next one will be a nice inverter, no way in hell I'm strapping that to a cargo tray for any ol' Joe to snag.

OK I have read all these posts (here and other forums) regarding tow weights, payloads, door stickers etc until I finally came to realize that I just need to go buy a Peterbilt 359 long nose to pull my travel trailer. Apparently everything I have learned as a truck driver and owner operator since the early 70's doesn't mean squat. Only weights I was concerned with then was not going over 80K gross and 12K axle weight. Carry on.

I keep reading about folks carrying firewood. I certainly hope your not traveling more than 50 miles with that wood you collected. If you do you need some education about the spread of insects and disease to our forests. You are part of the problem.
