Newb- 2002 F150 plow
Hello everyone!
Newbie here- I recently took my fathers 2002 F150 triton v8 off his hands and want to use it as a yard truck. My driveway is a little more than 1000FT so I want to get a plow for the old girl.
Is there a good website for a selection? I am obviously not looking for something brand new (unless I have to) but wanted to see if there was anyone that could assist!
Thanks in advance!

Hi, maritimeFRD1186, and WELCOME! to our campfire.
You could probably care less about the warranty on your 15-year-old truck. But back when your F-150 was in its prime, Ford would void the warranty on any pickup that mounted a snowplow if the pickup did not have the factory optional snowplow prep pkg. The snowplow prep pkg was available for F-250 and above, but not for F-150 until about the 2017 model year. The F-150 4x4 simply did not have enough front GAWR to handle even the lightest snowplow without exceeding the fGAWR. The Snowplow prep pkg is now available to order on F-150 beginning with 2017 model year. It was not available for 2015 model year, and I don't know about 2016. As a general rule, it's not a good idea to do anything to your truck that would have voided the warranty back when it was still under warranty.
The snowplow prep pkg on the 2002 F-250 came with a heavier duty front axle assembly rated 6,000 pounds, which increased fGAWR to 6,000 pounds. Look at your fGAWR on the door sticker of your F-150 and you'll note it's a lot less than 6,000 pounds.
But manufacturers are willing to make snowplows for the F-150, regardless of whether Ford likes it or not. Here's one that plugs into a front 2" receiver hitch, and they claim it will fit your F-150 after you add a front 2" receiver hitch.

If you intend to plow a dirt or gravel driveway and not snow, you'll still have the same problem of inadequate fGARW, and your old pickup will probably have a very short life. If your F-150 is a "keeper", then you should probably buy an old F-250 that has the snowplow prep package and wear it out plowing your driveway, instead of wearing out your keeper.
