Newb- 2002 F150 plow
Hello everyone!
Newbie here- I recently took my fathers 2002 F150 triton v8 off his hands and want to use it as a yard truck. My driveway is a little more than 1000FT so I want to get a plow for the old girl. Is there a good website for a selection? I am obviously not looking for something brand new (unless I have to) but wanted to see if there was anyone that could assist! Thanks in advance! |
Honestly, I would keep an eye on craigslist as long as you can be patient.

The snowplow prep pkg on the 2002 F-250 came with a heavier duty front axle assembly rated 6,000 pounds, which increased fGAWR to 6,000 pounds. Look at your fGAWR on the door sticker of your F-150 and you'll note it's a lot less than 6,000 pounds. But manufacturers are willing to make snowplows for the F-150, regardless of whether Ford likes it or not. Here's one that plugs into a front 2" receiver hitch, and they claim it will fit your F-150 after you add a front 2" receiver hitch. http://www.dk2snowplows.com/avalanche-snow-plow If you intend to plow a dirt or gravel driveway and not snow, you'll still have the same problem of inadequate fGARW, and your old pickup will probably have a very short life. If your F-150 is a "keeper", then you should probably buy an old F-250 that has the snowplow prep package and wear it out plowing your driveway, instead of wearing out your keeper. |
