Max Trailer Tow Package (Upgraded rear bumper)
I was building a 2021 truck and noticed (here in Canada) that the max trailer tow package is 950$ more than the regular tow package. However, the only difference, that I could see, was the upgraded rear bumper.
Anyone know what that means and what else, if anything, comes with the max tow package?

Yeah, you're right, that's the case for the US. Here in Canadaland the 3.55 elocker, tbc, and 36 gallon tank come with the regular tow package though. So, I think, all we are getting for our $950 extra is an upgraded rear bumper? Although I feel like I remember reading that the rear axle might get upgraded from 8.8 inch to 9.75 inch? Anyone know?

Awesome. Thanks Larry. In your opinion, is the upgraded axle size and mysterious upgraded bumper worth it? I'd like to make as good of a tow vehicle in the f150 as I can while still having some features (302A)

The “upgraded bumper” has modified braces around the receiver tube and maybe a couple extra bolts. This hitch costs about $600 replacement, last known, costs LESS than the standard receiver.

But first. Are you going to order the truck or are you going to buy at a dealer ( whenever they show up?)
I’m no expert and I’m not sure about the upgraded bumper. But job#2 at the Ford plants begins this summer. There are two neat new options that will be available and pretty sure they both require that you have the max tow options.
See the Car and Driver report on these two options. Basically the first is a scale built in the truck that weighs your load and/or your tongue weight— either on your screen or by LED lights on your brake light. The other is an adaptive dampening of your suspension system depending on if you are loaded or unloaded.
I’d check with your dealer if you might be interested in ordering these options.
Here’s that link.

Upgraded hitch has a stronger chain bracket and a higher rating.
Max tow comes with a HD rear axle and springs. and a higher rear GAWR. Bit more than a 'mysterious rear bumper'.

The e locker is not part of the standard package - it's a $500 add on.
Canadian max tow includes the upgraded axle with e locker, standard leaf springs vs the new composite leaf, and the 'upgraded' hitch. I don't know the structural difference of the hitch but there is a thread that shows a side by side comparison with pictures. I find the chain hooks on the max tow hitch much easier to use vs the standard hitch.
If you're getting a 3.5 you're should opt for the 3.55 over the std 3.31 rear end regardless, so the max tow is really only a $400 premium.

I have to ask, did you ever order the truck? If so, did it come with the upgraded radiator and trans cooler even though it wasn't listed? My salesman is trying to tell me it will. Also, if you went with the Max Tow, did the rear bumper have a step in it? I have the workstation tailgate ordered just for the step. If the bumper has a step, that will save me $700.
