18.2 mpg for me. Yours might be better with the new generation.

The 6 spd with 3.15 is around 20-21 MPG @60 MPH, with 3.55 around 19-20 MPG @60 MPH, and with 3.73 around 17-19 MPG @ 60 MPH. That new 10 spd should help improve those numbers regardless of what the rear end is.

Only if the trailer is white, otherwise, black is the beast to tow!

Just don't tow with Ruby Red, the truck is always trying to get away from the trailer.

My wife loves the Ruby Red, with the 2018s the Magma looks nice if a little dark for dirt roads. I have not seen the Guard colour in real life yet but if it's BRG I'm all over it.

5K lbs is nothing major. Get the 3.5 Ecoboost with 3.73 gears and be done. The HD package won't be comfortable to drive when unloaded. You should get better mileage than the posted numbers. My 2.7 with 3.73 gears gets 26+ MPG easily on the highway. Year-round average including winter (lots of snow, 4x4 driving, winter tires & steel rims, winter gas) give me a year-round average of 22.2 MPG. Winter sucks for mileage, but I have no problem getting 24-25+ MPG combined in the summer.

Not sure where you got those numbers but my 6 speed with a 3.73 would get 20-21 mpg ('13 SCREW KR with 157" wheelbase and 4wd) at 60mph. I also had a '11 supercab with the 3.73 that got slightly better than that.

My 16 SCREW Lariat (3.55) got 22-23 mpg @ 60 mph.

My 17 SCREW Lariat with 3.55 at 70 mph gets 20-21 mpg. I don't know what it gets at 60 mph as I never drive at that speed any more.

These were all 3.5 ecoboosts

There are no frame issues with the aluminum bodied trucks. The issues related to towing are lighter suspension as well as lighter weight which means more sway in lower wind speeds than the previous generation.

For the OP, I would not buy a HDPP for your application. It's way overkill.

You can't get the 3.73 gear with the 3.5 eco unless you get the HDPP.

My buddy has the hd payload package in his truck and to be honest I don't feel much of a difference in ride from his truck to mine just to let you know.

I've owned all three with ecoboost. Thats where I got them from. I didn't know it at the time, but the 2012 I had was an HDPP.
