Default Do I need a HD F150?

I still have not signed the papers (the 2017 I was after was sold before I got there).
My question I tow a two horse trailer aprox. 5000 pounds infrequently and a 24 foot TT ( 27.5 overall) 6500 GVWR, about 4800 dry, a couple of long trips every year.
I understand the load rating on the door and how it effects the tow rating but the axle rating thing confuses me. Anyway should I be looking for a HD package on my new F150 or is the 7050 GVWR I have been looking at going to be OK?
I'm looking at a Crew Cab with a 6.5 box.
Thanks for the help, I really want to get this right I tend to keep a truck a long time!

PS Which colour tows better!

Should be totally fine with a regular F150.

You should be just fine with the 7050GVWR for the most part unless you spec out a very very heavily optioned one. I must say though Race Red draws the ladies at the horse shows lol

HD is not necessary, and wouldn't be as smooth of a ride when driving unloaded either.

The only reason you would need an HD Payload truck with that trailer is if you put a massive amount of cargo and people in the truck while you tow.

Since you're getting the 6.5' box, you have the chance to get the heavier payload package, and I'd say go for it! I'm wanting the payload but like the maneuverability of the 5.5' box with the 145" WB. For what you get with the HD Payload package, you really should drive both. I'd get it in a heartbeat if available with the shorter truck.

You may be fine towing without a HDPP as long as you don't have a lot of cargo in the truck bed or passengers. Three adult passengers in the cab and feed, tack, and supplies in the truck bed in addition to the trailer tongue weight would likely necessitate the HDPP. Do the math on your own max use.
