Default 800lb Atv

Hauling a utility Atv this weekend in the back of my bed. Should I use the tow/haul button or does it even matter with such a light load I have a 2016 fx4 5.0

Don't forget there's the weight of the trailer with that as well. While trailer weight varies from trailer to trailer, that could easily push you over 1000lbs depending upon trailer size. At the least, it will add weight to what you are pulling.

I always use tow/haul when pulling any trailer. That's what it's there for. It changes the shift points, and provides engine braking. All of this helps you when towing.

And I agree, that's why it is T/H instead of just H.

I hauled a 600+ lb golf cart in the bed last weekend. Will the rear wheels be sitting on the tailgate? If so, I would suggest using tailgate support bars or putting a piece of heavy duty plywood in the bed to distribute the load.

Can't hurt to try it and see what you think, I've hauled 4-Wheelers in the back of the truck steady for years and don't think anything of it. I never think to put it in t/h but I'm sure it's not a bad idea.

It wouldn't hurt. But I would only use t/h for stop and go local hilly driving. Off if it was highway driving I would not use t/h mode for 800 lbs in the bed. The way I see it, 800 lbs is equal to the driver and 3 other full size adults in the cab. Does anybody use the t/h mode when there is 4 people in the cab only? I don't.

That's what I get for reading and responding before caffeine. Of course same still applies, except there's no extra trailer weight!

Yeah, play with it and see what you like.

Now that being said... WOW 800 lb. ATV !! That's a monster. Is it a Polaris 850 per chance? One of the men who hunts on my property just bought one. Its a wonderful machine, but a BIG brute. I have a "little" 350 Rancher 4x4. Its about 540-550 full of gas. I figure if I tip it over, at least I can get it upright by myself.
