My truck came with the 18” sport wheels and I upgraded to the 20” sport wheels. Honestly don’t feel much difference in towing between the two sizes. The biggest difference is pumping the p rated tires up to max psi (50 for my tires) when towing. Road is a lot harsher, but has a lot less sway.

I briefly had a set of 17” methods with e rated ko2s and those tires were a lot better towing. Unfortunately had to sell those due to clearance issues with the brake calipers. Once my tires wear out I’ll probably get a similar setup but in 18”

Read the fine print though, HDPP is for loads in the bed where XL Screw LB with 3.5EB and Max Tow is for towing. Ford clearly separates hauling and towing into two different setups, and why two different types of wheels/tires.

But you should also increase the payload when possible. My payload package helps me get closer to the actual trailer tow weight by allowing more hitch weight. So glad I got it (for towing!).

Ford also based the max trailer weight on 10% ball/tongue weight of 1320#. 2400 pounds payload is great, but doesn't give anymore tongue weight than 10% when towing to 13,200 pounds of trailer. So in theory, with Max Tow package on the Platinum, and payload of 1582 pounds. I could tow a 13,200 pound trailer with it, as long as it is just me in the truck, no other options such as the topper, no other passengers, and nothing in the bed as long as I only have 10% of the trailer weight on the ball. You can have all the payload you want, but there is still that lowest common denominator, and in this case it is the receiver.
