For those that are wondering, the wheels are 20x9 with a +18 offset. I did add a set of 2” wheel spacers (which makes the offset now a -32) to get them to at least fill out the flare width. They actually stick past the flare about 3/4” so a 1.5” spacer would probably be closer to getting them to sit somewhat flush.
The skid kid plate is super think, and heavy. An easy 60-70lbs. It attaches easily....once you get the lower plastic off which is a gigantic PITA. The bumper needs to come off to get to all the nuts that hold it on. There really isn’t any way around it, even if you wanted to trim the valance to meet the skid plate along the sides, you’d still have to remove the bumper to get the nuts off that are behind the bumper brackets.
So today I Secret Santa’d myself.
Just installed a set of Sway-A-Way 2.5” remote reservoir coilovers up front and 2.5” piggyback reservoir rear shocks on my 2018 F-150. Found them last week on sale for right at $2000 shipped on AFE’s website. Test run around town and interstate are a night and day difference. Under 30mph they are VERY slightly stiffer than stock, 30-50mph feels slightly softer than stock and over 50 these things are like glass. I’d compare the on road ride right there with my 2012 Raptor......which is exactly what I was going for. Will get some off-road miles during the week of New Years so I will report back after then.
Wow. I just realized it’s been over 2 years since I’ve updated this build thread.
here is how the truck sits currently
just did a full raptor swap on my truck. Front got gen 1 coil overs and shocks with gen 2 upper and lower arms. Rear is gen 2 springs and gen 1 shocks (awaiting those)
I’ve also added an SVC front bumper with Diode dynamics lighting, and SVC rear bumper.
these pics are from before the raptor swap
also added a set of tremor steps
im sure there are some other small details I’m missing, but for now that get me all caught up.
