Is Realtruck a Scam?
#21
Good afternoon Eds34pc, I am very sorry to hear that several members are having concerns and issues with our company. We are receiving a higher than normal level of customer service inquiries and it has resulted in a delay in our response time. With that being said, it should not take days to receive a reply, I agree, that is absolutely unacceptable. We are working on several solutions internally to increase response times moving forward as well.
Additionally, we have a warehouse that is full of products available to ship the same day. However, as other members have mentioned, we are experiencing some delays with several of our dropship vendors due to Covid-19. As a customer, you should expect an update and a timely reply to your inquiry. If you could please PM me your order number or email address I would be glad to look into this and ensure you receive a resolution.

SEE!!! I told you someone from RealTruck will probably drop in. If Nick can't get you taken care of, then it is time to move on to another company but I don't think he has left anyone hanging out to dry yet.

Definitely NOT a scam. I just ordered a Truxedo Pro X15 tonneau cover through Nick and received timely communication and a great deal. Cover arrived in the timeframe that was stated prior to the order and I'm really happy with it.

Yea.. its a drop ship issue no doubt, Ive done a good bit of business with them and all turned out well. Some of them took some time. And when you ask them they then have to contact the manufacturer and get an answer to get back to you with. So its delayed sometimes.

Nick from Realtruck got the info for me this past Monday. I appreciate that he was able to answer my question, but it doesn’t quite make up for the fact that I made at least 10 attempts through chat, and called and spoke to a rep who acknowledged the chat attempts and assured me someone would get back to me within 2 business days with status info., never heard anything.
Hopefully I’ll receive the order close to when he said I would.

Their chat will act as if its a real person at times when its not manned. That part I understand your frustration with. I too had that beef. It asks you unnecessary questions then leads you to a prompt that says someone will get back to you. Its not a real person when its doing that. I think it should say right off the back that Chat is not live so leave a message. I got frustrated with it and ended up arguing with it... like it was a real person! LOL... stoopid computer!

Googled about some of what I read here:
Even though Debit cards say Visa or Master Card they are not. They do the transaction processing for the debit card issuer. The buyer protection benefits are determined by the issuer, not the credit card company.
Bankruptcy doesn't seem to be as straight forward as some have said. Type of bankruptcy can effect credit card company liability and court decisions can effect if you recover or not or how much. Courts can limit and even protect CC companies if they have no chance of recovery. CC companies credit your loss based on an expectation of recovery. If there is no expectation of recovery the courts can redefine the terms of your protection. Apparently that's in the "fine print" of the plan.
Just like with insurance if a loss is determined to be virus related, again in the fine print, if there is an expectation, even if just a reasonable expectation, potential of a future determination that the virus is ruled to be a natural disaster or "act of god," the CC companies may be released of any protection plan liability. The process of the protection plan is superceded by being beyond their control to participate in the process. This one was convoluted with a lot of legalese.
About charging to the card before it ships. This one appears to be a straight forward violation of the law, IF, an intentional or fraudulent "pattern of behavior" can be determined comes in to play on this one. Mistakes and accidental conduct are excusable. Another odd rule to this is say UPS picks up at a place twice a week. As long as the order is processed and ready to ship the order is considered to be UPS property and shipped. Something about contractual arrangements has something to do with this.
I hope I got all of this right. The rules aren't always as straight forward to decipher as the anger that comes when not getting what you paid for as expected.

I still haven't received my order from Realtruck, but this week I was assured it would be shipped 6/16. In April 2020 I purchased a Bakflip MX4 from Realtruck, and last week one of the bumpers that is on top fell off. Well, I sent 2 emails this week, one on Monday, and one on Wednesday, and called 2 times and left a message , never hearing back from any of them. I asked Neil if he could get the replacement, his response was yes, for $7.00. Parts falling off a 2 month old cover, no return calls, what a way to do business. We got your money, SCREW YOU!
