Sorry to be such a pain, but I want to get it right the first time. BTW I have the same camera.
Not a pain at all. That's why I posted this...so people could ask questions if they wanted to do the same thing.

I used the red wire for power. No good reason...it's just the one i picked. It's been working fine so I'm not sure it matters.

I didn't even try to get the wire that came with the camera to reach. I ran the "bell" wire all the way to the back and spliced into the camera power wire at the back of the truck. I felt the "bell" wire was more durable and easier to run.

Wait, now I am really confused..lol

You didn't plug the power cable that came with the camera into the jack on the camera and run that? What did you do, cut off the power wire and splice it in with the bell wire?

Also, when you say "bell" wire, do you mean low voltage door bell wire from home depot?

Yes and yes....

I cut off the excess wire, but of course I left the plug.

It was going to have to be cut off and spliced somewhere since it wasn't going to reach so since I started my run at the head unit....I just ran the bell wire along with the video cable all the way to the back and spliced it in there.

There's a picture of the roll of bell wire on my first post. It is low voltage (12v) wire. It works great for stuff like this.

Another way to run the cable is out the rubber grommet by driver side feet front. That's how I ran mine and followed wire clusters all the way back to the bumper.

Bnb,

I finished my install today. Wow, what a hassel. Mostly becasuse scosche has no clue what they are talking about. I ran the wires for the camera inside the factory wiring harness so you cant see anything. And I put the camera in the key hole for the spare tire, just had to open it up a little with a rasp. It looks like a factory part.

One problem I did have was how to power the "reverse" wire. I really didn't understand in you original post and still have it dangling right next to that plug. Can you tell me EXACTLY which wire it is? Like the color, the placement on the plug. Is it a small gage wire or a larger gage wire? Thats about all I have left to do on the install. I'll post pics when I am done, but really need to know which wire to hook up that reverse wire to. Any assistance would really be helpful.

I can see out of the camera if I select it on the source, but it doesn't come on automatically when I put it in reverse.

Sorry don't know answer to your questions other questions.

I have several answers to that. But the top three are:

1. I have AAA

2. I can access the spare tire nut between the bumper and the tail gate.

3. In a pinch, it's really not hard to unscrew the camera and set it aside while lowering the tire.

Glad to hear you got it installed.

If you look at the picture below.......you need to unscrew the bolt (A) in the center and remove the plug (B).

You then need to twist the plug clockwise and look for a black wire with a pink stripe. There's only one that color and they're all about the same gauge.

Just strip about 3/8" off your reverse wire and slide it into the small box that the wire runs into on the plug. It should stay in while you reassemble the plug.

Cool glad to hear that it's not an issue. Is spare tire stealing that big of an issue that it needs a lock... ¯\(°_0)/¯
