Installing a backup Camera

The wires coming from the camera are incredibly thin. What I did was strip them and stripped a 4inch length of some 16 or 18 guage and twisted them together for both power and ground respectively. Then put heat shrink around the twist. I then used crimp connectors to attach the other end of the 18g wires to the wires of the reverse light.

Just wanted to update my post. My camera's video cable has two four inch red wires at each end, sticking out the bottom of the RCA plug. As it turned out, they are power wires. I hooked the one to the power wire from the backup light, and the other to the trigger wire marked "reverse" coming out of my head unit. So I only had one cable to run, simple hookup under the dash and in the back.
I just wanted to update this incase anyone was looking to purchase one and saw this type of cable and wanted to know what it was for. I wish everyone made them this way, sure does make the job easier.

then help me out my brother. I have a 2015 F350 with a back up camera and the Sony head unit from the factory. I am wanting to install a third brake light from a 17 F2 50 with the camera onto my truck in the third brake light spot and tidy third brake light camera into my reverse camera with a toggle switch to go from one to the other. How does one do this
