The first time changing the plugs should take around 1hr or less. Subsequent times should take about 30minutes.

Well good news, I've been in contract with the Regional Customer service rep for ford and she got my truck into my dealer tonight and has instructed them to further look at it tomorrow and see what they can do. Let's see if any of them are smart enough to re gap the plugs .... At this point I'll prolly upgrade to BRISK plugs anyways BUT I want ford to recognize the issues of these the trucks and create a TSB or recall or something to get the ones fixed that need to be fixed. I really think it's BS that we pay a pretty penny for these trucks and they think we should be ok with a rough idle among other problems ....

Can you explain your rough idle? At all times or? Somewhere there was a post about the idle trim re-learn (post 650). Hopefully the techs will figure it out.

My truck had a super smooth idle until I re- gapped my spark plugs to .030. Now I have a rough idle as well. What worked a bit was letting the truck re-learn its idle by doing this after a re-flash.......

1) Turn truck on without anything else on and let it idle until the engine reaches operating temp or at least 1 minute.
2) Then you turn your AC to max and also let it idle for at least 1 minute (A little longer is better)
3) With the truck on and AC on max, put on drive while holding the brake down and let it idle (like you would on a hot day at a red light)
4) Then drive it with AC on gently for about 10 miles(maybe even more) so the truck learns the transmission shifts.

It should Idle better after that..... I have been doing this every time I try a new tune which seems like a lot lately as Mike from MPT is trying to get my 87 Octane performance/chill tune to work properly. Mike has been great so far and even went as far as remotely taking over my lap top so that he can show me how to data log using the SCT SF3. I bought 3 custom tunes from them and at first like everyone on here stated I hated the shifting. My 3 original tunes were 93 Performance/street, 87 Performance/Street and 87 Economy. Well I hated the shifting as it was so firm it whip lashed me and it would be a great tune for racing on the track but not for everyday "you drive a Hemi and my little V6 is going to embarrass you" type of driving. Mike from MPT sent me 2 additional tunes which were 93 Performance/chill and 87 Performance/chill. I love the 93 Performance Chill but with gas being about 75 cents more per gallon in my area for 93 than 87, I chose to mostly drive with 87 octane. I originally had a problem with my 93 Octane tunes misfiring and Mike asked me to re gap my plugs to .030 which I did and I don't know if I did something wrong or if my truck does not like that as now it has rough idle even on the stock tune. Anyway after the re-gap my truck was a beast on 93 performance chill (I kept right up with a 5.0..... mustang that is from 0-60)After wasting that tank of gas I put in 87 and went with my 87 performance chill and something is going on were under WOT it looses power. When I put the gas down half way the truck goes like a beast but when I push the gas in all the way it looses almost all power and my engine sounds louder like its revving really high but almost nothing is happening. Mike from MPT had me data log my 87 performance/chill tune and he said he will make it right for my truck. I cant wait, if it feels even slightly close to the 93 Octane I will love it. with the 93 my truck gained about 100hp and about 140 Lbs of torque (A beast that will attach you to the seat until you let go of the gas). Anyway, in retrospect I probably should have bought the new Motorcraft SP-534 plugs instead of cleaning and re-gapping my old ones. I would stay with Motorcraft if I were you as its what the manufacturer suggests and you don't want to give Ford any excuses to void your warranty by using non- approved parts.

Performance is how hot the tune is.
Chill is the shift strategy, slightly firmer than stock.

Update on my ford visit for the rough idle .... They have once again said that everything is with in specs and that the extremely rough idle is normal .... Glad to see that all the techs think it's ok to sell a truck that idles like complete ****! .... The Regional customer service manager said I can get a second opinion from another dealer but other then that there isn't much She can do. I'm glad to see that ford cares about there customers so much that they will let you spend $40,000+ on a truck and say it's acceptable to have a rough idle to the point that your passengers ask about it. Lovely ford ... Just lovely .... She's told me to contact the BBB... I don't know about anyone else .. But I work for a MAJIOR company that is based on customer service and if I told one of the customers to contact BBB my boss would have my *** for lunch !!!

You're doing nothing and accomplishing nothing by taking it to the dealer. If the diagnostics say there's nothing wrong--they won't do anything. Just gap the plugs and be done with it , the only one being hurt is you, Ford won't feel a thing.
