I would say you made the right choice. Towing that trailer across several states is not easy on any truck, but I think the ecoboost will prove to be quite capable. I would assume that you will hit some type of Mt. pass during the trip. You will enjoy the torque of the ecoboost.
Congrats.

You made the right choice. I pull a 20' enclosed trailer with my xlt ecoboost which is around 9000lbs loaded. No issues so far, I've been getting 10-13 mpg at 70PH which is fine by me. I used to get 7-8 with an 03 silverado 5.3 liter.

I've pulled my 6500 lb travel trailer several times now which included hauling *** up a couple of fairly steep hills from stop lights and she didn't even break a sweat. She only has the regular tow package with the 3.55 LS rear end, but I have weight distribution bars to help. That being said the trailer barely even squatted my truck when I dropped the trailer on it without the bars. No probs kicking her down to pass traffic with the tralier on. You've got the right motor for what you're hauling.

If you never do anything but pull a big slug trailer you will be praising your EB 5 years from now.

I pull a 23FS weekend worrior with a GVWR of 7600lbs on weekends and have the bed loaded up with fire wood and another quad. Thats when I can tell I bought the right Truck. Pulls way better than any gas truck I have ever owned...
