After the flash I now get great mileage!! averaged 19.8 on the way to work a mix of 55/45mph. One concern/symptom i have is that the gear indicator no longer appears on my display to show what gear the truck is in. Any one else notice this disappearing act?
Anyone know how to get it to illuminate again?
I guess its not a big deal, but I thought it was a neat little feature.

Yeah I just plan on going to another dealer and telling them I want it done...I'll bring a copy of the TSB with me. Just wondering is this for all trucks those built before the certain date...even ones without symptoms and good mpg?
NO. People confuse recall with TSB. A recall is for ALL vehicles made during an allotted time frame. A TSB is just to give dealerships guidance on how to proceed with repairs to a vehicle that is exhibiting the symptoms outlined in the TSB. If you cannot replicate it for the dealer or have the dealer replicate it themselves, they should not and most likely will not do the update.

If you do not have these symptoms, do not take it in for this TSB as it will only falsify the ratios of vehicles that were "fixed" by this TSB and make it harder for us with real issues to actually get a working fix issued by Ford.

Hit the + button on your gear shifter.

Push the +/- button on shifter. This will fix your dilema.

I just dropped mine off for the TSB update. At times it hesitates then surges on acceleration more than the normal turbo lag and the gas mileage has been bad. My dealer had no problem doing this under warranty and I'm glad I could get it done. Seems those who have this done have witnessed improvements, hopefully I'll see the same improvements.

Well now, that is just plain bull. You mean that even tho I am getting crappy mileage but don't have the symptoms that I should NOT get the reflash??? Bull to that! If you are entitled to get good mileage then I am also since it seems the reflash improves gas mileage. After all, these 3.5L engines all started out with the same original flash!!! DUH!! I most certainly WILL take it in for the TSB!! Where do some of you people get off? This is no different than the update for the SYNC or a windows update for your home computer! To tell us to not go have it done as it will falsify ratios is absurd!

At the dealership now. Hoping to see better mileage and smoother power out of this truck. Had the truck surge while towing the new travel trailer up a long but slight grade. Felt like you drove into a very strong headwind then it would drop back off. Seen the tech driving it to get it codes or vehicle to act up.

Finger crossed.
