So if you want less torque, more downshifting, more revving pulling a trailer get a 5.0...at least you will have the V8 rumble....
Oh and maybe void your warranty too by getting a tune in your brand new truck...
Or get the better option with the EB...tons of torque, quiet, hardly ever shifts....gets the exact same mpg towing as any V8 I have towed with before....all completely stock
Yup I sure wish I had bought the 5.0L LOL

Ford doesn't make that **** up for marketing. Are you joking ? Just because you can tow over the rating does NOT mean you should.

Will you agree that the 5.0 is more powerful than the 5.4. It's rated at 11300. Take it one step further I guess the 5.4 is just as good as the eb. Ford doesn't want 3 engines rated at 11300 so they lowered the 5.0. They invested a lot into the eb and don't want the 5.0 directly competing with it.

Newp...

"For maximum capacity the F-150 needs to be equipped with the more powerful 5.4-liter V-8 making 320 horsepower and 390 pounds-feet of torque when running on E85; it comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also required is an optional maximum towing package."

Torque and rpm are what matters.

Didnt know that it had to be on race gas to get that rating. Thats my bad/lack of research. (but the 5.0 will outpull the 5.4, trust me I'v pulled with one but never on e85, maybe I was missing something in that 10 hp 25 tq were talking 6ish% gain, not much)

To my other points, forgot this a second ago. Also ford doesnt want the 6.2 competing with eb so it is only avaliable in special/limited trims.
To ford's marketing bs. With the superduty Ford Chevy and Dodge have changed their tow ratings so many times with little to no changes to the truck, so yes as of now they can say what they want. Just a pissing match, but its Ford vs. competition, not the stupid Ford vs. Ford we have now. When this gets standardized everyone will have to do same tests and get real ratings.

the 5.4 is rated to tow the same as the EB. Rating it for 11,300 only on E85 doesnt fly in most of the country because it isnt available. The 5.0 is a step up from the 5.4, its rated to tow less for marketing purposes. Ford wanted to be sure that the EB sold so they gave it the max tow rating knowing people would buy it just for that reason.

Beyond that, the 5.0 produces as much torque as the EB from idle to 1500rpm and while you may not tow at 1500rpm, every time you start you go through that range.

They have a max number. Nothing says they cant publish something lower which gives them room when the competition goes higher, they can go higher without changing anything.

And when the new testing is required, they will still play games because they want separation between engines to help define them. Again, they can publish a lower number, just not a higher number.

Wow... I just checked back in on this thread which I was initially ubscribed to because I made the comment does anyone have a legitimate answer to to OP (who yes we know has long since moved on) because my dad is looking at the 5.0 and I'm looknig at the EB becaseu of configuration differences we both wanted and no other reason and he asked me the same question and I thought I'd find out more... and then I read 45 minutes of worthless pissinmatch B.S. I'm unsubsrcribing and allof ya'll should be ashamed of ya'll's self. My wife would have done said "Whatever?!?!? Bunch of Children" 80 posts ago. Good bye children.

Carry on now.
