Had oil changed at 10k. Drove for two months then went on a 3200 mile vacation road trip. Currently at 15k miles now and was a quart low. New truck definitely burns oil. Must be a Ford thing as none of my other brand new vehicles ever did this....guess I will have to live with it.

Sometimes the brand of oil you use can make a difference. I put Mobil1 in my Corvette once; I had to add a quart during that oil change cycle. That engine never any significant amount with any other oil from Royal Purple to Quaker State to Pennzoil. I have Mobil1 in my truck now. Goin' to Mag1 for the next oil change.

33,000KM and no more oil consumption. I changed the oil at 30K and it still at the top of the hash marks. I use the regular MC oil.

So you used a quart in 5K miles hmmm, thats not bad, but it should do better than that. Drive it another 2000 and see if its a quart and a half low. Don't beat on it when its cold, that is a mistake a lot of people that use oil make.

The more data and details people provide the more useful this thread is.

I talked to an old school buddy earlier this summer, he's a Mustang guy (11' 5.0 CS) & he told me there was some complaints on the Mustang, so Ford deleted the piston squirters for 12', that was apparently the cause of the motors to use oil.

same thing here or not?

There are worse things than having to add a quart between 10k oil changes. Some folks change their oil more frequently, so they never see this. I say enjoy the truck. For anyone who can afford to own and drive an F-150, surely a few quarts of oil over the lifetime of the ownership experience should be tolerable.,

If it was mine I would add half a quart after 5000 miles, and then change at 7500 miles. In 100,000 miles that would amount to less than 7 quarts added for a cost of less than $50.00.

A very small cost considering all the other costs of ownership over 100,000 miles. And a cost I am willing to pay for the power and economy of the 5.0l.

I has two GM 5.3l both with tunes and neither was close to the stock Ford 5.0l much less the Coyote with a tune.

Also the new 5.0L uses oil piston cooling jets, considering the bottom of the piston will get hot especially when towing could this be where its getting burnt??? Or when you check the oil could come of it be in the block (more than normal) due to the oil squirters??

Theres a reason they took the squirters out of the 5.0L BOSS engine, Im thinking this could be the reason for the oil consumption
This post makes sense. I also have a 2012 5.0 that's using oil. Less than 2000 miles on it. Had the oil changed at 1500 because it was a quart low and also wanted to flush the breakin oil out. Dealer said its "normal". I'll buy that till it hits 10000. Don't tow but drive hard occasionally. Otherwise love the engine, oh yeah and the truck !

Ditto!

5W30 Pennzoil (conventional) changed at 3,000mile intervals since the 1st oil change at 500miles.
