Default 5.0 oil consumption
About every 2000 miles my '11 5.0 uses a quart of oil. The dealership tells me that 1 quart every 1500 miles is normal. This doesn't sound right to me. Anyone else going through this?

Normal? Wow! My old '99 5.4L with 500000 km didn't use that much oil!
Seems excessive to say the least, especially for a new engine.

How was it broken in?

That is crucial for everyone to know so that they can argue the merits of the different methods and have new ammo!

I have 16K on mine and hasn't burned a drop of oil.

I change it every 6k miles and been full every time.

Something isn't right.

Reality doesn't have anything to do with this argument. Those that have a firm opinion will not be swayed by evidence that contradicts their opinion and personal experience.

1 quart every 1500 miles, wow. That means with 7 something quarts in the engine, then it would be empty of oil after about 7500 miles. Interesting considering the IOLM and manual states you can go 1yr or 10,000 miles for an oil change. I would show the dealership the manual, they are definitely incorrect. Do you have black residue inside the exhaust pipe, like it is burning that much oil?

WOW......that's bad........real bad........my 5.0 is using a quart in 4000 miles and i'm pissed about that.............................my 97 with 250000 miles uses a quart in 7000 miles........doesn't look good for you and I
