Yes, I would. They seemed all gung-ho to fix it and made it sound like it would be done quickly. That was 2 months ago.

I've had one for my 2010 5.4l since about new, and pretty much enjoy everything about it. Mind you I was not looking for bleeding edge performance or anything like that. Just a mildly improved tune with firmer shifts in some gears and the ability to alter shift points. This tuner has met or exceeded my expectations in all regards.

As far as the customer support from Hypertech (the main reason I chose this tuner based on past experiences), I had some minor trouble OUT OF THE BOX. I called them, and in less than 2 minutes (verifying the serial number) the technician knew the problem, and was shipping me a new unit with return shipping covered for my original.

I've experienced the 1-2 harsh up (and down) shifts, and leave those stock RPM and firmness unless I'm towing. Then I firm everything up and mildly raise the shift points. I find this compliments the Tow/Haul features pretty well, and I can't find a single negative point on the tuner or the support offered by Hypertech. I'm sure there are tuners with more features, or more power, or more adjustability; but I will stick with my Hypertech as long as things stay the same.

Well just got off the line with Hypertech Support (Kenny) and explained the issue to them and Kenny said they haven't heard anything like this, he asked if I had the current update and I informed him I do. Him again assured me that they haven't heard anything like this.... So someone is blowing smoke up someone's 4th point of contact!!!!
Guess I'll wait a day or two, pay attention for the issue and document it as best I can- speed, gear, vehicle actions etc..... Than call support again and ask for Gary!
I'll keep everyone posted!

That's great . . . I guess they don't share information across the support people. Gary definitely knows about this issue and he is the one who called me personally a few times and instructed me on performing the dump of the programmer which I uploaded to Hypertech.

I second this. Great for the price and did everything I wanted. I have a 2010 fx4. Check for updates every so often if you haven't.

Well I've payed attention to the hesitation issue I mentioned and here's my thoughts:
Out of the box in some situations at very low speed the truck would hesitate for a split second like it's trying to figure out should it downshift or not, this hesitation is very slight and not really noticeable but once you make changes to the system and input the settings mentioned by Gary it seems that the slight unnoticeable hesitation just became noticeable but again it's right at that spot where the truck is in between gears (1st & 2nd) on the way down...
For the most part I think tinkering with the +300 for 1st might help if I lower or put it back to stock.
Overall the truck runs better and MPG is up as well so I'll let it go, because it rarely happens at rolling stops I can control it by changing driving habits and have.

Maybe I'll try programming it with the fuel program and the tire height and leave the RPM and shift firmness at stock and go from there.

I got a question, that I'm hoping Gary (or anyone else who knows) can help me out with...

When there are updates released, do those updates just cover the newly-released models? Or are there adjustments for everyone?

I have an '09. I'm pretty satisfied with the way things are. But, let's be honest...none of us would have ever found this forum if we didn't want to constantly improve our trucks. So, is it worth the trouble for me to download the update and reflash?

I reset my tuning as I mentioned earlier but adjusted 1-2 RPM from +300 to +100 and payed close attention to the shift habit of the truck, what I found is when slowing down/ rolling stop below 10 mph that slight hesitation is the transmission downshifting to 1st, the time it takes it to transition this is that hesitation.... Not saying its right but I actually notice it at stock settings as well just not as apparent, anything above 10 mph and you don't have the issue because the transmission is either in 2nd or 3rd.
Could be that just below 10 is to low for 2nd but still to high for 1st so to facilitate a smooth shift the transmission doesn't engage till the vehicle speed slows to a slightly better point.. Just a thought.....
