Default Another Intake & Tuner Topic

I am about to buy a tuner and intake for my 06 Scab and have been doing some research on it. Not trying to start anything and only want to know the set up on your truck and what benifit if any that you have had from it.Your input matters to me and your opinions also. Talk to me and let me know what you have done to your truck. I have an 06 scab XL with 4.6 that I am customizing.

What exactly are you looking for? Here are a couple of threads with a ton of opinions.

I have a VMP tuned Livewire and Troyer tunes on the way. I also have a Gryphon from PHP and those tunes are on the way as well.

My intake is an AFE Stage 2 CAI, makes for some real lean conditions w/o tuning. Love the look and perf of it, but their customer service blows.

Trying to decide what to get, Been doing some research but there is so much to choose from it is confusing. Right now I have a drop in k&n and was thinking about just getting an Airaid intake tube. Really confused about which tuner to get, there are so many. Leaning towards a SCT.

The SCT devices are great. Your best bet would be the Xcall from VMPtuning.com or Troyerperformance.com if that is the way you are going. Both are great guys and have been tuning Ford's for a very long time.

I am gonna kick this over to the after market area where more of the tuner guys troll as well.

I have the Air Force 1 CAI (3" pipe) and an Xcal II with custom tunes form both Troyer Performance and VMP. I'm pretty happy with both tunes, but I think I get better performance out of the Troyer tunes. Just seem to get a little better throttle response and the TC (torque converter) issue isn't as bad with the Troyer tunes as with the VMP tunes. I had Justin at VMP adjust my tunes and the TC issues isn't as bad when I originally got the tunes though.

I'd really like to get my truck on a dyno and get some numbers though.

I might have to put the Tuner off for a couple of months, Which CAI can I run until then without worrying about running lean?

I ran my AF1 for about 2.5 months before I got my tunes and had no issues (if you go with the AF1 just make sure to get the 3" tube, the 3.5" tube requires custom tuning).

the Volant is perfect without a tune.

Why don't I need a tune with the Volant?
