97-03 F150 best tuner for the money?
i have an 02 F150 V8 5.4L
The Edge Evo is most appealing to me for the money, but if theres something about the same for cheaper id prefer that one. i dont really have any special price range, but what would you guys buy thats decently priced?
(I found an edge on ebay for $340, $200ish would be best.)
on ebay they have these things for $25 that send a constant signal to the computer that supposively do what a programmer does. i dont see those working well. what is your opinion on those?
Thanks

December 2009 TOTM!
Edge Evo or Gryphon. SCT is a good programmer also..
The $25 chip your talking about is a gimmick. Basically tricks the PCM into thinking **** and can damage your vehical...
Check craigslists or the forsale ads on here for Edge Evos cheap....

I just got rid of my Evo because I didn't like the pod on the dash and picked up a Superchips 1865. So far I notice it is very similar to the Evo but it has more options.
My truck shifts better with the 1865 and seems to launch harder off the lights..Now to be honest, I have only programmed my truck with the 1865 yesterday so it will take more time to really notice any differences..I already like being rid of the pod...

my main concern is MPG, but acceleration increase would be good too. thats all im really concerned with though
the other thing i liked about the edge was that it shows you 4 parameters

I will have to watch and shoot to see what the MPG will do for me...Here in Canada gas is about $5.00 a gallon so MPG is a great concern of mine as well..
One thing I like best about the Superchip is I can program the truck and then put the programmer away and not have to look at it. I have a GPS right where the Evo went so that freed up some space for me.

Yea, the price of gas really sucks hard but what can you do? We are governed by a government that likes it's taxes-and it taxes fuel really heavy...
I'd push my truck before I'd drive one of those...
Right now I am getting 23 mpg on the hiway but the trick will be to get decent mpg in combined driving-winter driving always makes it go down though...
