Are you currently running the spring perch relocators on your truck?

No, I'm running the djm 3'' lowering control arms

If I have more issues with the control arms, my intention is to go back to stock control arms and use the spring perch relocators and trim the stock springs to get it where I want it.

yes, I did have the spring perch relocators before. it's a long twisting road to try to explain why I don't have them now, but I wish I still did.

It lists them for 2004-2008 trucks as part number 70005. It is included in the 15+ kits but is unclear if it is the same part number.

the Mcgaughys site lists them 04 to 08 iirc, however on the site linked in my post, they're listed 04 to 17. I'm pretty sure they will work, but I would ask Mcgaughys first if you have any doubt.

again if you lower your truck with stock control arms still in place, it will reduce your turning radius significantly.

the djm arms I'm using have several issues, tire shake being the major one. If you tighten them enough to keep them still, it starts squishing the urethane bushings out and keeps the sleeves from turning inside each other as designed. the still work, but they rotate around the bushing instead of around the inner and outer sleeves. also, if you try to go a little lower than the 3" drop arms are designed for, they'll interfere with the steering rack links. Mine got the boots all cut up from the links and boot contacting the control arms. I had to raise the truck up about 1/2'' higher than I wanted to remedy the problem. granted, I was lower than the arms were designed for, but this problem doesn't happen with stock control arms.

I have used the belltech kits in the past with limited success. My goal this time around is try and maintain the oem quality ride. I just can't deal with blowing the suspension apart every other month because some chessy shock squeaks or leaks. Yeah the factory struts aren't the best riding for performance, but do ever hear anybody complain the leak or squeak?

exactly.

the drop spring perches will only work with oem struts, that's a drawback for sure. if you buy struts that come with their own spring perches, it's a guessing game if the diameter is exact in order for the mcgaughys perches to slide over them correctly, or if they will seat in the right spot to get the right drop that you want.

the guy that bought my spring perches bought them because his belltech struts shelled out. I had two of them leak all the oil out, and I've personally spoken to two different people that actually had the struts physically break in two.

so for me its more or less a process of elimination as to which way to go. it's not like i'm in love with the spring perches, but it's the best option without shelling out huge bucks for a true coil over or air bag set up.

Maybe a dumb question but if I did the spring perch relocation and a drop shackle would it maintain factory ride? Additional I have a 17 4x4 STX super crew, with the rear block already removed if i did a 2" inch drop shackle would i have to worry about pinon angle or any other things? Basically sounds like a cheap and easy 2/2 drop with out any change from OE

I think it would maintain the factory ride, however I don't personally know of those perches will work on a 4x4. You will need to talk to Mcgaughys for sure. The very first thing I did to my 13 RCSB was lower it with a Mcgauhy's 2/4 kit, and yes it developed the low speed rumble in the drive line. Even as recently as last week (and I've owned the truck six years) I was underneath it adjusting angles trying to iron out a very slight vibration at around 100mph. What am I doing going 100mph?....I like to drag race the truck (at the track). My truck is probably about a 4.5/5.5 or 6" drop, and I've spent a lot of time working to get a completely smooth ride. Currently I have 6 degree shims under the back of the rear spring perches, and the carrier bearing has been moved upward probably 1" to remove some of the angles. I'm happy to say it's pretty much perfect for all aspects of driving, but you need to expect to spend some time and effort getting the details ironed out.

It is confirmed the perches will work on 04-17. He couldn’t say if they would fit 18-19 but I don’t think the shocks have changed in that regard.
