Default XLT E-Brake Conundrum

It's now apparent to me that whomever had my 2000 XLT truck before me quite likely changed the rear axle from 3.08 to 3.55. In doing so, they either converted the brakes from drum to disc, or on the new axle there were discs there and they thought, "f**k it! I don't have the E-Brake for disc parts, I'll just put it on and not have an E-Brake altogether." the truck DOES have the E-Brake cables and they work when the brake is being depressed, but as I mentioned, they are not connected to anything.

My question is that this - How do I know what E-Brake assembly will work with this, and what would be the name(s) of the parts I need?

Thanx!

If the axle was changed, no big deal. THe only part that is different in mounting is the right side cable. That is only replaced it it isn't the correct length (120 wb vs 139wb vs 159 wb) otherwise it is plug and play.

You don't say your year, but I'm guessing 97-99 w drums originally. The disc rear is such a simple swap, and improves the overall breaking.

Sorry, my year is 2000. I don't think the 2000 came with DBs, did it? Well, whether it did or didn't, aside from the cables what parts do I need??

Nothing. Yes 2000 had discs. Most were except some V6s, work trucks and XLs

Mine is an XLT. So, if I have the cable and I can see that they're actuated by depressing the pedal.... what other parts do I need to actually have an E-brake that works!??!

there is a little lever in each of the disc hats which house the parking brake stuff. Those are what move the shoes, check to make sure the shoes are adjusted properly(you want just a slight drag). also make sure the cables move the lever, they could be broken internally

Could could it be that the levers are missing? The mechanic said that nothing was there except the cables.
