I was looking at wynches today and found one i liked at tractor supply, but it was 4500 lbs. Is that sufficient enough for my ext cab f150?
also, does it mount straight to the frame or do i need a brush guard of some sort?

"Winch" No, just save up a little more coin and get you one that won't leave you stranded. I wouldn't put that on a car hauler.

It may work for a few outings but you get what you pay for, and theres plenty of ways to mount it, just depends on your fab skills

Ya I wouldn't get anything under 8,000lb. I ordered a 8000lb warn winch for 500$ the other day for my truck but they were on sale so I don't know if you can still get them for that cheap

Typically the winch should be able to pull the truck's weight and 50% more... so I'd say at least a 6500lb winch
