It's not global warming anymore. It's climate change. So now, if it does get colder than it should, it's due to climate change

The stuff that I've seen work wonders is that Amsoil crap. Well, guess I shouldn't call it crap, but works "wonders" , - Hey, if I hadn't seen for myself.... Hell we would even used their grease out in the field, since the stuff was the ONLY lub that wouldn't lock everything up w/below freezing temps. Stuff's not cheap, but you seriously do get what you pay for.

Thro it in the transfer case as well, just takes a few quarts. I swear most of time servicing transfer cases, it looked like they were full of swamp water lol. I admit T-cases do get ignored quit a bit.

I wouldn't use that stuff in the crankcase tho, - unless you have a good understanding what may happen, if your not careful.
I could try synthetic fluid. The one thing I haven't mentioned, is that this pump is always whining, even after running for an hour 90* heat. It is a faint constant whine. You still think this pump is salvageable?

2 weeks ago, I did fluid and filter on my trans and found a plug, indicating that it was never changed. I've never done transfer case fluids or differentials but I'll do all this in the spring. All full synthetic. After finding the plug in the trans, I'm sure all of the drivetrain hasn't seen any maintenance either. Damn, it had maintenance records all over the carfax. I never thought to look at the transmission, apparently they didn't either! Still, its a clean, great performing rust free truck without a ding on it!

I currently have 33" mud countrys on my truck, should they be able to do decent in the snow and ice or should i switch to smaller tires? only thing i noticed is that because the tires are so big on stock axle gears that i get higher rpms therefore spinning more, what do you guys think? im going to pick up a parts truck with brand new 30s~ i believe all terrain should i run those? also is there any other prep i should do for winter? First time winter driver here! up in maine!

If at any time when you think the trans has been working hard, pull the dipstick and feel how warm it is. Good fluid will never be very hot. Bad fluid will burn your fingers and eventually burn the trans. It's a good way to judge your fluid.

If it smells and looks bad, of course change it out. But it can look good even when bad.

______________

Good PS pumps in these trucks. It may recover using the good stuff and if you flush all the crap out it well. Get it nice and warm first.

You can find pumps on fleabay, - new take offs once in awhile.

Thanks for the tip on hot trans stick. I've had high temps on the stick in other cars but not the trucks.
According to my torque app, the fluid temps were on the low end. I don't really push this truck though.
As far as ebay ps pumps, what do you mean by take offs? Are they used?

Like I've said earlier, every mod motored Ford I've had has screamed at startup in sub zero temps.

New take-offs are crate motor part outs. Parts are taken off a new motor, but can't be sold as new.
