I seem to be having a small problem with the driver side window in my 99. It goes down perfectly fine but on the way up I cant just push the button like normal. It stops and goes stops and goes. I've notied that if I hold the button down really hard it goes right up. Any thoughts

Your switch has dirty contacts for your DS window... Gotta pull the switch, take it apart and clean the contacts... Should last another 10 years or 150K miles... I'm guessing here!!! LOL!!

Once I get it apart what's the best way to clean the contacts?

 

I think I used a small flat tip or on of the dental tools I have in the tool box... I just scraped the crap off to get to somewhat clean copper...

I also had to do this to my power mirror switch, which was half the size...

So I was able to clean them but that wasn't the problem. Any other ideas I can try before I go and buy a new motor?

 

i would try a new switch before i get a new motor the switches can get bad enough that a simple cleaning will do no good

 

I agree!!! If it works fine when you push down hard on the switch, but doesn't under normal pressure, it is the switch...

I'll see if I have one...

Sometimes the "star" gear on the window motor shears a tooth and this will happen... I'd take the motor out and inspect it... I bet that's your problem

 

Your problem is easy to correct. The reason you have to push down hard to get it to work is because the piece inside that makes contact is worn down. Ive had to work on mine twice since 99. Snap off the button and glue a small piece of plastic or metal to it so that the contact is closer therefore you will only have to push the button slightly.
