i have them on my rig, their 2" spacers on 35" tires with stock rims. I couldnt fit them on the front, the tires wouldnt turn at all so i just kept them on the back.

with 16x10 i wouldnt run 2" spacers, that will just put the wheel out way to far. it wont put anymore stress than wide wheels. i have 2" spacers on 16x8 wheels and to me they almost sit out to far.

I want 1" spacers on my 4x4 to set the 20" harley wheels out a bit farther. Where are you guys going for these?

how does running a spacer make it hard on your wheel bearings?

running the same backspacing rims would do the same thing too, Would it not?

I'm not a big fan of wheel spacers after they ruined a set of custom rims I had made...

You can see how big the holes got wollard out in the rims. Sooo thats the reason I went to the 52's and sold the 49's

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST, but I've got some free time haha

It all depends on the backspacing/offset you start with... the less backspacing the more the wheels stick out...

My stock wheels were 7" wide with 4.5" backspacing... (backspacing is measured from the lip of the rim to the inner mounting surface)

So that puts the mounting surface 1" outward from the centerline of the wheel which in turn sucks the wheel into the wheel well... I put a 2" spacer on these wheels which "changes the backspacing" to 2.5" which puts the mounting surface 1" inward from the centerline of the wheel... 2.5 BS isn't bad on a 7" wheel...

Now, on a 10" wide wheel which also has 4.5" of backspacing, same backspacing but that means on a 10" wheel the mounting surface is .5" inward from the centerline and the same 2" wheel spacer would cause issues cuz the backspacing would change to 2.5 so the mounting surface would be 2.5" from the centerline... which would put uneven pressure on the wheel bearings, tie rods, ball joints etc... 2.5" BS not good on a 10" wide wheel... the top of the wheel would always lean in against the top of the outer wheel bearing and push out on the bottom inner of the bearing on ball joints etc due to the offset down pressure

The least amount of backspacing I've ever heard of is on Ckale's wheels... and that's a 12" wheel with 4.25 backspacing... that puts the mounting surface in 1.75 from the centerline which I think is pushin it but it looks Bad *****

So it's all about where you end up relative to the centerline... backspacing can be 2.5" on a 7" wide wheel and be fine or 2.5 on a 10 and be BADDD

So to answer the question above... Yes if you bought a wheel with crazy backspacing it would do the same damage as a spacer granted it's too far off the ceterline...

But spacers arent always bad... Mine hugged the lip on the Hub and were fine, they never moved or loosened... I've seen many, many rock crawlers runnin em and they take a beatin... I'm not big on the Non hubcentric ones that Harley posted
