What kinda mpg gains from adding programmer
I have a 2003 f150 xlt 4wd 5.4 l and It doesn't get very good mileage I was wondering what kinda gains yal have gotten from adding one
Driving style, maintenance, driving route, the list goes on to things that affect mpgs. A programmer just adds another piece to the factors that can affect it. Some see 0 some see up to 2, just depends. Don't buy a programmer for the mileage gains, buy it for the power gains and better driving.
First when i got my truck i was getting 12.8 mpg with 35s. My last tank of gaS i got 15.08 mpg that is with my superchips flashpaq on stock w/ options tune. The math for the ones that dont get it is 267 miles and i put 17.7 gallons in it ccomes to 15.08 math is there ha i could have gotten more but racing those ricers is fun and to see there face when american made beats tuners hahahahaha

If you want low fuel consumption you could swap a Prius engine into your truck, but don't try to drive uphill...
Or you could find one of those VW Rabbit diesel pickups if you don't carry big loads. There is usually one on fleabay. I hear the small Toyota diesel pickup is a great compromise, but the last one I saw on fleabay went for over $10K and it's over 10 years old.
My '98 V6 has an empty weight of 3880 pounds. I'm very happy on the trips when I can get 20 mpg, usually it's around 18. After all, it's a truck. It isn't meant to save fuel carrying only a passenger or two all around the country. That's what econoboxes are for (econo-jellybeans with the modern styling?). My GF's Hyundai gets 33 mpg, and my Suzuki GS550 gets 53 mpg. These are what I take when I don't need a truck and want to save gas.

Change the plugs, engine air filter, fuel filter, run 93 in your tank and drive it like a truck work the hills and keep that right foot light and you'll see some improvement not
much but you will see it. I have a 2003 f150 XLT 4x4 5.4 liter engine and I get about 19-20 mpg highway and 16-17 mpg city so it is all how you drive it
