Default what is it????

im rebuliding a wrecked truck and teh first day that i got it in the shop something fell out of it. not thinking anything of it i gave it to a friend that wanted aluminum. i originally thought that it was the A/C condensor. however its not. I have the condensor, radiator and another cooler of some sort that is about 2-3 inchesx 6 inches and is bolted to radiator support. the one that i am missing is at least 10x12. but i dont know what it is. does anyone have any ideas. im thinking that it might be a transmission cooler

the truck is a 2003 V8 4wd (4.6L)

Could be an auxiliary transmission cooler or perhaps an oil cooler added by a previous owner. The item you describe as 3"x6" sounds like the OEM tranny cooler. Don't know if Ford offered an engine oil cooler option??

Suggest to check for any severed hoses that may have run to this item in efforts to determine what its function really was.

I would follow the hoses like mentioned above, and see what is missing from there.

There isn't much aluminum up there, so it souldn't be that hard to track down.

That small it could be a power steering cooler.

im gonna guess that it has something to do with the tranny, cuz when i started it it was squirting tranny fluid everywhere. however i was in the truck so i couldnt see where it was coming from.

Im gonna go look at it again today and see if i can follow those hoses and see where it takes me

so i figured out what it was today. i followed all the lines and they were all connected to something..lol.

im assuming that the part that fell out was from whatever the truck hit, since nothing else in that area had a whole lot of damage other than the rad support.
