Default What is this?

So i was driving to work this morning and this piece flew off and burned a hole through the hardpack snow as it was super hot. I also lost break pressure when this happened, but there is no leakage that I can see. Parked the truck till I an figure this out. Not sure what I need to buy and replace to fix the problem.

backing plate to a front brake pad..a severely worn brake pad..new set of pads/possibly even rotors and you will be on your way

Haha, if this fell off your truck, your brakes are toast. You're looking at new rotors and new pads. Totally due to your lack of regular maintenance. Take all four tires off and inspect/replace all your brakes. That piece probably came off the front as that is were most of your braking is done.

Yea I bought the truck two months ago and didn't have a chance to checkout the breaks. I guess I'll get new rotors, pads, and calipers and replace everything. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Omg this is hilarious.

Please do everyone else on the road a favor and pay a shop to do your brake job for you.

Your brakes must have been squealing like a pig...not sure how you don't notice that.
