What is this?
This...there is no way something didn't feel off.
Also if you're going to avoid checking a certain part of a vehicle prior to purchasing it, let it be the radio or A/C or something not the dang brakes.
Not only is that dangerous to you, but its dangerous to those in the vehicle with you and those on the road with you.

You do know you can't drive that anymore, right? You need to get it towed to where the brake (not break) work is going to be done, or you may break (not brake) someone else's car or kill them when your brakes (not breaks) don't work.
I don't know if this is a joke or if this is serious but wow. Not trying to be a douche but my girlfriend even knew what this is and you definitely should. I'm also curious how the whole of flew off as its held in by the caliper and it's not even broke in two...
That's your restricter plate... Just slows ya down... If you don't want to get pulled over for going so fast you can barely stop, just wipe it off and put it back in, even if it's just on the floor or something, at least it's somewhere in the truck if you get pulled over
Seriously though, with the gouges, obvious excessive heat (blued steel) and the metal dragged through the backing plate that I can see... You can't tell me that didn't sound like a jet plane was trying to use your roof as a landing strip... There's no possible way in hell the truck was braking AND OR breaking quietly like this... You're just oblivious and thought it was normal... Don't tell me otherwise I won't belive you anyway...
I hope your friend that is doing the job knows what he's doing, lives could be at stake... I hope I don't share the same roads with you...
This thread = When you buy a vehicle 8/10 times the owner doesn't give a crap about it anymore and it should be thoroughly inspected ESPECIALLY for safety issues...
I hope this was a joke or a troll... If not be happy you're alive and didn't kill anybody... hope you learned something...

I knew it had something to do with the brakes.... I'm not quite that dumb.
and it happened right down the street so i put it in 4 low and just crawled it home and used the emergency break to help park it. I wouldn't have driven it down a road with any traffic or anything like that especially up here in Alaska. its up on jack-stands now in the garage. popping in the new rotors and pads in the morning.
