Default Upper and Lower balljoint replacements?

So my front end is squeaking worse than my exgirlfriends bedrame. Squeaks over bumps, when I turn the wheels and what not. Its very annoying, today I took the skidplate off and greased the 2 zerks that are located under there and nothing has changed. Im thinking its the lower ball joints as Im not sure what else it could be.

If I do the lowers I am going to go ahead and do the uppers while I am at it. Wondering what you guys are replacing these with? Id like to replace them with greasable parts to prevent this in the future. Also I was wondering if you guys are doing alignments after replacing the joints, ive heard both no and yes on that.

Thank you!

Your ball joints have zerks? Mine do but I thought it was because mine were aftermarket. When you greased them did it come out of the other side? I've had some clogged zerks and had to buy a cleaning tool that worked really well so they would take grease again.

No the balljoints on my truck do not. The 2 zerks under the skid plate were for the steering linkage. Both zerk fittings took the grease, it wasnt the issue though.

Get yourself a needle grease adapter and grease your ball joints. It will quiet it down until you get your replacement ball joints. I done this years ago on my old 2000 and it kept it sqeak free for almost 2 years.

That did cross my mind, but ball joints arent very expensive, if I can replace all 4 for under 200 bucks Id rather do that and be done with it.

Looks like Moog makes greasable ball joints for these trucks.

Yep that's what I did too. Took about a week after I greased them for the squeak to go away.

Go ahead and do them, its not that bad of job. Probably take 5-6 hrs total For both sides doing it in driveway.

If you mark washer positions well, and current alighnment is ok, you can get it back good after replacing upper arms. You still need to get alignment. Mine drove perfect, i was in no hurry to get alignment for a few weeks till after i got bew tires. Others who dont get it close say theirs was undriveable before alignment.
