Default underbody rust

I have been noticing a lot of rust under my truck and was thinking of spraying it myself with gemplers rust converter and then mayb rust oleum flat black. I was wondering if there were better products that people have used that were cheap and held up. Also if there are any key spots which maybe isnt the best idea to paint

with the por15 did u use the pretreat marine coat or the metal ready coat. also did u do like the whole underbody and if so how much did u use (gallon, quart, etc), and did u put a top coat on it, and how long has it lasted for you? Last question (sorry for all of them but i dont wanna screw it up) is there some spots u would recomend avoivding the main part that i want to do is the frame and the some of my bed underneath and the differential cover.

thank you very much in advance

I had the same problem. What i did was wire wheel the entire frame to get the rust and old undercoating off and to expose the bare metal. I then repainted it with some flat black. It should stay on there for a long time, since it went onto bare metal and got good penetration.

It is a pretty dirty job though, the old undercoating stuff gets everywhere.

ok thanks for the help. when it says that you can order it in different colors does it dry that color and look nice or would u just recomend like a cheap top coat for looks and that added protection. also do you know if just about everything is fair game when painting it or is there something particular i should not paint.

i painted lines frame not much of the underbody since there isnt much rust yet and the stuff isnt cheap
order black chasiss semi gloss or something like that it looks awesome so i think any ways if its going to be exposed to sun alot--top coat
put it on in thin coats
pour some out in a cup and reseal the container makesure to use the plastic wrap like they tell u to on the site since when it drys it WILL BE LIKE A BRICK then u just throw the can away haha
