Do you use a touchpad? Or do you have a touchscreen?

Trackballs. I used a MTE for years, but it's currently back in the box with a package of zirconian bearings that I need to install. I also have a couple Logitech M570's I use with the laptops when mobile. The favorite at the moment due to it's quick persisian is a Sanwa TB39R.

MTE, -

Damn, did you see how much Newegg wants for that Trackball lol. I didn't pay that, you can get them for a little over a 100. They use to be rare, hard to find because Microsoft quit producing them. I'm not sure how Neweeg even got ahold of a new one, but some swear by those things. Once Microsoft stop producing them, the price went way up. I acquired one long ago, it's good, but not THAT good. Some swear by M570's, but it small, the ball is too small and doesn't fit a mans hand well. The Sanwa beats them both hands down ergonomically. It's large, fits your hand perfectly, the bearings aren't made of the best stuff , but ball resistance is perfect for better control/precision. It's also a large ball, larger the better. I have about 6 years on the Sanwa without a problem. The Amazon reviews got it wrong for some reason, not sure why. Time maybe, or they got to use to those little M570 ***** lol. The Sanwa isn't bad in price, a little more than 570, but you get what you pay for. Also, you can't drop a 570, drop it once and might not work again, I know , I carry those around. I don't carry the Sanwa and have dropped from the desk to the hardwood floor quite a few times, keeps working. I've purchased just one Sanwa thus far, will purchase again if this one ever dies on me.

There's another out there that's Gov tactical tech, it might apple/mac, I think it is. Outrageously priced, never went after one of those. Uses a whitish large ball at the head and are built very very well.
