Truck will not go into "Park"
2000 F150 RWD Auto 6cyl 150K miles
In the past week I've parked my F150 and have noticed the "park"selector will not engage in the "Park" position. The stalk seems floppy. When I try to restart the truck it will not start. I have to put the selector stalk into neutral and the truck fires up. Something is wonky with the selector, I guess. Today the truck was pointed downhill and when I tried to get out of the truck after I turned it off and put the selector into "Park" the truck began to roll forward. Quite the heart beat moment.
Something is wrong and I would like your assistance in helping me diagnose what's wrong and where to begin to find the cure to this problem. This truck is 19 years old and has never given me any problems. To me this "feels" like a slight adjustment on a shift linkage or something minimal like that.
Thanks for your help.

Look above the brake pedal area. You will find the shift cable going up the column. At the end you will see 2 Torx 30 goldish bolts. Tighten them. They will be loose and it will correct your problem.

Thank you for the replies. I just went underneath my dash near the brake area and sure enough the two torx bolts were loose. Took my impact driver with a torx bit and sinched them up tight. Turned the truck on and played with the selector arm and all seemed good.
I appreciate the quick reply with the accurate diagnosis. Great to find knowledgeable folks around who like to help folks with a simple problem. Once again, THANK YOU!!!!!

Well , I'm sure it's not the last time, I dump plenty fluids on this K800 as well, stinky gear oil once...I swear it worked better after that mishap, but the stench took forever to dissipate. Gear oil is great aphrodisiac to coffee keys too.
Logitech K800's are bulletproof, just what I needed....not one fried led in the thing yet, knock on wood lol.
