Question Tricking O2 sensor

So i had to take off my right rear cat and now i have the check engine light on.. i was wondering if anyone has ever ran a jumper wire to the other side and splice into the other O2 sensor wiring... Would it work??

i just deleted my rear cats last week. i didnt have time to drill the holes and weld o2 bungs on and the CEL came on within a few minutes of driving it. i put the o2 in the same spot is was as if the cats were in but unplugged my battery for 15 minutes to reset the CEL and it hasnt been on since...its been a few days but im sure it will be fine. death to CEL's

you only took off one cat? if you did it might go away if you took the other rear cat off so it would be even. and before i did my rear cat delete i was googling things and there is a way to trick the sensor by getting some parts from napa. its a cheap easy fix. but luckily i didnt have to do it

i drilled holes...i didnt have any bigger than a half inch drill bit so i used the side of the drill bit and alot of patience. then held the o2 bung over the hole. tacked and welded it. screwed to o2 in and plugged it back in. i did the welding and drilling while it was off the truck. i put a dime size circle with a sharpie on the pipe where i wanted the sensors. on the heat shield above you will see where ford cut out a part for the o2 and wires. its quite obvious when you look. i can attempt to upload pics if absolutely needed. ill get the part number for the o2 bungs later.

walker exhaust part number: 36339

I bought my 97 f150 without any cats, would those tricks work for my model or would I have to try something else? I need to try something its starting to run too lean.

There's a difference between tricking the rear O2's (which just monitor cat efficiency) verses tuning for the front O2's that monitor a/f ratios. Any time you modify the flow past the front O2 sensors there is a chance for it to alter the a/f as you are seeing. The only way to compensate for this is through tuning.
