Dumb question.... I put the new master in, and the "BRAKE" light is on all the time. Tried the new and old sensor, same result. It only shuts off when I unplug it.
Does the BRAKE light also illuminate when the ABS is not hooked up?

Sounds like it might lol. But yea I would question that as well...the abs has it's own light.
Hmmm... found this in some diagrams I forgot that I had. Looks like there is a "brake fluid low" signal that comes out of the RABS module. I'm wondering if "behind the glove box" is an accurate location for it?
OK... hopefully this helps someone in the future. It appears there (once again!) is an EARLY 97 production location, and a LATE production location. SO, I suppose that I have a couple of locations to scope out.
EDIT: So much for just pulling a fuse!!

The 4.6 and 4R70W are a killer combo. No powerhouse, but just damn reliable.
I suspect so. I don't drive a lot, like I used to, and rarely carry a load or tow, or I might mind more having the 330/5.4. Old engines lose compression at high rpms, so a 266/4.6 would suffer more if really tasked, later in life, more than big brother. But I have a 3.35 rear, effectively 3.01 with the 17" 265s. I've not had a chance to test mpg since the trans rebuild and eng replacement. Sure respected the anemic 221 in the 62 Fairlane. (Became a 260, became the 289.) Still, dad, a machinist, added an overdrive. 😁
