Thinking v2
Noon sounds like a "Public Service." 10.PM a curfew reminder for kids. Or a reminder to not have any loud music after 10. Sounds like an over zealous citizen, cop wanna-be.
Not exactly.. The old legacy version anyway..a small town historical reminder. In the early days, sirens such as this served a dual purpose. First, the noon and 10 PM sirens were a way to help residents synchronize their watches and daily routines. Noon marked lunchtime for workers, while 10 PM signaled the end of the day, reminding people to head indoors as curfews were enforced in various small towns.
Their explanation summarized, -
Modern day relevance. Preserving tradition in a community that values its heritage. Community awareness. In the rare event of a local emergency, the siren still serves as an alert system. Testing the system. The daily sirens also act as a regular test to ensure the system is functional.
Here, too. I did a batch today, myself, after the salsa veggies.
