YES, they are a huge PITA to drive. I'm 6'3", and I'm almost too tall for it. Working on them is a real joy too. Cool cars overall, but just a little bit of a pain to own.
BTW, Ron's has a 4L60 in it. I have another friend that has an 88 4+3, which is kind of a trip to drive.

Accelerated 1st-5th and then dumped it in 6th and coasted to the exit ramp.
I had no idea I hit that speed until I got home and looked at the GPS.
Excellent question. If wear is nice/normal, I can surface them myself, shadetree style. It takes excellent methodology, ans simple electric tools, and a good straightedge and an excellent eye. Otherwise, you are Right On. He is remote-rural and a 3 hr drive, so I'd stay over a day or three. I'd check price and shipping speed for the "extras." Rural can easily add a day. If anyone wants to suggest Dorman, Rock Auto, Napa, other, feel free. TIA
LATE EDIT: And of course a great fine flat file helps too.

Mannnn, totally getting pummeled by rain for the last hour...it's pounding the shingles. sounds like a bunch of hammers over head. I haven't noticed the rain hitting the roof this hard in the past.
We are going to have some flooding here for sure.
