Not advocating for anyone here.... just showing the facts that it has indeed increased. But I do believe that it seems like more than 20% as well, Brew. Wages are not keeping up with the increased costs.
Tried to look at this way , - it's not working out as it should. So what am I doing different vs 3 or 4 years ago. I'm not going out to eat, rather , going to the grocery about 90% of the time and not just for steak. I should be spending much less.
Great point. We definitely buy differently than we did 3 to 4 years ago. One other thing that I'd like to know, is if those percentages also take into account the smaller sizes. I believe that in the beginning, we were being duped into thinking it was close to the same price. But manufacturers were changing the amount in their packaging to try and "compensate". I believe there is now a term for that practice... something like "shrink-flation".
Attempted hard boiled eggs this morning again, trial #2 . This time I phoned mom. Did exactly as she said and still ended up with just the yoke left in my hand
I'll have to try this, but might need to play with the time(s). I didn't think altitude would affect an instant pot/pressure cooker but apparently it does: https://www.pressurecookrecipes.com/...-cooking-time/
Absolutely altitude affects time, and pressure.
At sea level you start with 14.7 psi, but that is relative, or baseline, zero. My antique manual wonderful Presto Pressure Cookers can easily ADD 15 psi to that. The new all-in-one pots I see barely manage 12.
But I add my 15 (relative) to a 14.7 baseline.
You may add 12 (relative) to a 11 psi baseline.
Put 40 psi in your tires and you might find them at 35 on the ocean beach. All this affects the temp at which water boils.
You have too cook longer cuz you do it atca lower temperature. Boil 5 eggs. Take one out at a "normal" 20 min. Mark each egg. The rest at 1 minute intervals. My bet is you'll need ~25 minutes... But maybe more.
It's kind of good your air is thin and your truck produces less power at altitude, cuz the radiator boils easier and thin air cools it less well.
